HOT-DIP GALVANIZING

1. PREPARATION

Preparation for the galvanizing zinc coating includes a series of dip-tanks for degreasing, and pickling and rinsing to provide a new metallic surface. Paint, grease, oil, mill scales, welding slags and rust is removed. Next, the steel products are fluxed with subsequent air-drying to prepare them for the final galvanizing process.

2. ZINC BATH

In the 450˚C hot zinc bath, metallic surfaces are coated with an iron-zinc alloy. Then a pure zinc layer is added, which is extremely stable against corrosion.

Also, long and bulky steel articles can be easily hot-dip galvanized in our new and modern mechanized galvanizing plant. Our galvanizing plant capacity is 2,000 Mt per month and the galvanizing zinc bath size is 12MTR (L) x 1.6MTR (W) x 2.6MTR (D)

3. VISUAL INSPECTION

The final visual inspection is conducted to ensure all surfaces are protected. By visual inspection and measuring the thickness of the zinc coating, FIRGEE ENGINEERING guarantees the quality of the galvanized zinc coating to most International Standards, such as BS729, ASTM A123 and most recent BS ISO EN 1461:1999 specifications.

4. IN HOUSE-LABORATORY ANALYSIS

Quality control is carried out during each process from receiving customers’ steel products to the final galvanized steel coating. We have in-house laboratory to analyze, control and maintain process chemicals to optimum level for production reliability.

Computerized weighbridge system (50 Mt) is used to weigh all out-going galvanized steel products to ensure actual galvanized steel weight is charged.
